Chemistry KS5

Chemistry is concerned with the science of matter, particularly its structure, properties and reactions. Chemistry is of central importance to the sciences as a whole as the chemical reactions that it governs are fundamental to all of science. It is therefore one of the most respected Level 3 qualifications and will equip you for any scientific or engineering degree course.

What does the course cover?

  • Module 1 - Development of practical skills in chemistry
  • Module 2 – Foundations in chemistry
  • Module 3 – Periodic table and energy
  • Module 4 – Core organic chemistry
  • Module 5 – Physical chemistry and transition elements
  • Module 6 – Organic chemistry and analysis

How will you be assessed?

You will take three written exams at the end of your course: two of 2 hours 15 minutes and one of 1 hour 30 minutes.

 

 What can you go on to do?

Chemistry is a great choice of subject for people who want a career in health and clinical professions, such as medicine, nursing, biochemistry, dentistry or forensic science. It will also equip you for a future career in industry, for example in the petrochemical or pharmaceutical industries.
