This is Harry.
Harry is a year 12 student who’s chosen to focus his studying on maths and engineering, plus physics with further maths. Harry wants to go into mechanical engineering and hopes to work on cars or aeroplanes – basically anything automotive!
So what’s his story?
Harry first heard about UTC Leeds when taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh award at his previous school. For part of his award Harry worked at a company who manufacture jukeboxes called Sound Leisure. Whilst at Sound Leisure he found out about how the company was involved with UTC Leeds as an employer partner, so he decided to look into the college further.
As well as having great links to employers, Harry chose UTC Leeds after finding out that it offered further maths, a subject which few high schools offer today but one that was important to him. Since joining UTC Leeds he's got the chance to design a speaker for Sound Leisure, and even got to present his ideas to the Managing Director of the company. They liked his design that much that they asked Harry to go and build the speaker, and he added his own Jack Daniels custom design on the front. It wasn't your typical school project!
Harry's favourite thing about UTC Leeds is the employer engagement opportunities that he gets access to. He appreciates being able to choose which projects he works on, allowing him to specialize in the areas he enjoys most.
