This course will provide you with a broad understanding of design and technology and will develop your capacity to design and make products, as well as appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing. This course complements the Engineering Mechatronics course that students will study at the UTC.
What qualification will you take?
AQA A Level in Design and Technology: Product Design (3D)
What does the course consist of?
The course is split into four units:
- Materials, Components and Application
- Learning through Design and Making
- Design and Manufacture
- Design and Making Practice
How will you be assessed?
You will take two written papers, each two hours long. The other two units are assessed through coursework, each requiring 50 hours to complete.
Each unit is worth 25% of the final grade.
What can you go on to do?
All courses at UTC Leeds will allow progression to University, Apprenticeship or the world of work. You will be prepared academically and will have the skills needed for employment.
